as I imagined it,it was part of some mystical armor that gave the wielder great power but it would suck the life essence from the wearer while doing so.

too bad the wearer can't supplicate the armor's hunger by harvesting the life essence of others.
Or by making the armor feed on itself and recycle the energy while it's not active.
Or can you?
